Distributed Information Delivery System Module Descriptions, Version 1.0

The Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications (LHNCBC) has developed a prototype, microprocessor-based, stand-alone information delivery system in order to evaluate the feasibility of using a microcomputer system for retrieval from full-text encyclopedic databases. This experimental system has been programmed in PASCAL and is restricted to database delivery. The Module Descriptions manual is one of five system manuals and contains functional descriptions of each logically discrete section of PASCAL code within the delivery system. A logical module is considered to be any functionally discrete procedure, function, or group of procedures or functions. The manual describes each logical module according to a standard format. Following a brief description of each module is listed the input and output parameters for the routines plus a list of other variables affected by the module. The last item of each module's description is a list of all the external procedure or function calls. The manual's last section contains an alphabetical listing of all procedures and functions in the delivery system with their location according to page number in the source code.
