Design Curves for Estimating Sound Pressure Levels in Factories

A mathematical model was developed which describes a parallelepiped room, the surfaces of which are characterized by their sound absorption coefficients, and which contains a random array of obstacles, which are characterized by their number, average size and average absorption coefficients. The mathematical model is applicable to rooms of an arbitrary shape. The influence of different parameters on the sound field has been studies. Especially in factories with high ceilings, it is found that suspended acoustic baffles are effective in damping sound pressure levels at intermediate and far distances from a noise source. A computer program has been developed to evaluate sound pressure levels from the theoretical equations.
