Electronic funds transfer (EFT) is the application of computer technology to the delivery of financial services. Electronic banking, as it is frequently called, is a communications process that relies on electronic messages instead of paper for financial transactions in the economy. EFT is not a simple substitute for the more traditional paper-based payments system (primarily checks) but a means of offering alternative and more convenient services. This volume contains papers that discuss many important issues raised by the usage of EFT.
