Assessment of Structural Damage Using the Theory of Evidence

Dynamic test data of building structures are analyzed to assess structural damage and the method of converting evidential information to the interval representation of Dempster and Shafer is applied. It is shown how results obtained from individual sources are interpreted. Response histories, crack patterns, hysteretic behaviors, and the formation of damage parameter mass distributions are considered. Information obtained from several different sources is combined to compensate for individual deficiencies of the knowledge sources.
