摘要

Bituminous materials are used extensively as binder in road- and airfield construction. One way of achieving better elasticity characteristics is the addition of styrene-butadienestyrene-rubber (SBS) to the bitumen. One matter of concern is the ageing characteristics of the SBS. Methods to study the changes ocurring in the mixture are largely lacking although a few attempts have been reported. The hitherto most promising approach was based on a tedious solvent extraction procedure, followed by infrared examination. In the study gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and thermo-mechanical analysis (TMA) have been evaluated as analytical tools.
