Archaeological Survey and Evaluation of Six Parcels on Nellis Air Force Base, Lincoln, Clark, and Nye Counties, Nevada

Cultural resource survey of six parcels in the north and south ranges of Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, were undertaken prior to impact by construction and/or mission-related activities. Fourteen previously unrecorded sites or isolated artifacts were recorded. Twelve of the fourteen were isolated artifacts or scatters of a few flakes, which were collected. Two archeological sites were considered potentially eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Site No. 26Ck3906 is a moderately dense lithic scatter containing all stages in the stone tool reduction sequence. There is also a historic component present. The second site, 26Ck3905, is a lithic toolstone quarry site which contains a high density of artifacts and numerous separate activity areas. While most of the activity areas contain the remains of the early stages of stone tool reduction debris, two of the activity areas are dominated by the debris produced during the final stages of stone tool production. Subsurface deposits may be present in the latter two areas. The report documents the findings of the survey of these six areas.
