The Fourth International Soil Correlation Meeting (ISCOM) was organized by the Soil Management Support Services in conjunction with the Soil Conservation Service Taxonomy Staff and the state offices in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. The meeting addressed the subject of arid soils and proposed changes to the Aridisol order. The International Committee on Aridisols (ICOMID) had developed a set of proposals containing a new key to the Aridisol order. Along with discussing the Aridisol proposals aspects of erosion, use and management, and conservation of arid soils were also observed. Part A of the proceedings contains 24 papers which were presented at the meeting. They represent much of the current thinking regarding Aridisols. Part B contains the data and descriptions for each of the sites visited along with a summary of the discussion at each site.
