The book evaluates 34 coping strategies for people on low incomes to reduce theirhousing expenses or to use their dwelling to generate additional income. Low income households are defined as households that earn a net income below or just above social security level. These groups belong to the lowest 10 percent of the income distribution. Coping strategies may be undertaken by individual residents, groups of residents, public organizations or (local) governments.
