摘要

A logical analogy may be drawn between the problem of active anti-roll stabilization of ships, and the conventional servomechanism problem, provided certain limitations of the data of the ship-roll problem can be justified. The advantage of the servo point of view is that it emphasizes the important questions of stability and optimum performance, and furthermore provides a well-developed basis for their analytic treatment. This analogy, once developed, points the way to further experimental work and, of course, to its own verification or disqualification. (Author)
