These Rules prescribe the procedure to be followed at public inquiries held under the Electricity Act of 1957. They cover applications by the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) or any Area Electricity Boards in England and Wales under the Electricity Lighting Act 1909, for consent to construct or extend an electricity generating station (whether nuclear or not); and applications by the CEGB or Area Electricity Boards under the Schedule to the Electric Lighting (Clauses) Act, 1899, for consent to place an overhead electric line.
