Novel diarylimidazole derivatives, in particular compounds of the formula I IMAGE in which R1 and R2 independently of one another denote carbocyclic aryl and/or heteroaryl, R3 represents a radical of the formula -alk-A-R4 in which alk denotes a divalent hydrocarbon radical, A represents a group of the formula -O- or -S(O)n- and n is 0, 1 or 2 and R4 denotes an optionally substituted hydrocarbon radical or, if n is 0, hydrogen, and their salts. The compounds of the formula I, which can be used as external skin antiinflammatory agents or antithrombotics, are prepared by methods known per se.
