A DATA ACQUISITION UNIT FOR AIRGLOW MEASUREMENTS

The data acquisition unit consists of a five digit decimal counter with appropriate gate generating circuits to enable the photon pulse rate from a photomultiplier to be measured. A wide range of gate intervals and sample rates are available. A crystal master oscillator controls the gate interval and sample rate, and also provides the time reference for a five digit decimal clock. The counter contents and the time information are available at a rear panel connector for connection either directly to a Hewlett Packard type 5050B printer, or through the data interface to a tape punch. The input to the counter is via an amplifier and discriminator circuit giving a threshold voltage of 200 mV.
