SIMULATION STUDIES OF THE EFFECT OF LINK BREAKDOWN ON DATA COMMUNICATION NETWORK PERFORMANCE

摘要

The NPL program of work on network simulation has been extended to include a study of the effect of I ink failure. A protocol is described which enables the network to recover after a failure with no loss of data packets. The performance of the depleted network has been studied at various loads and the effect of isarithmic control on the behaviour of a network that includes a bottleneck has been investigated. In an appendix a brief account is given of a program of work on the enhancement of the network by the addition of extra links.
