Prediction of the Thermal Behavior of Metal Hydrogen Battery Cells

A thermal equivalent model of a NiB2 and an AgH2 battery cell was defined to enable the thermal operation of the cell to be simulated using a computer. The various parts of the cells in terms of thermal parameters, i.e., thermal capacity and conductivity were determined. In parallel with the theoretical calculations of these parameters, measurements were carried out to verify or support the calculation. The heat flow generation profile were measured in an isothermal calorimeter under various cycling routines of the cells. Simulation of cell operation were carried out on a computer, and internal temperatures of the cell were calculated.
