摘要

The mathematical problem of predicting the flow of interspersed phases, possessing differing (average) velocities at the same instant and location, and of successful methods of solving the problem are reviewed. It is argued that the mathematical difficulties having now been overcome, further attention should be devoted, on the computational side, to faster algorithms and more flexible computer codes; and, on the physical side, to the development of models for interfacial area, interphase transport, and interactions with solid structural elements.
