Single Server Queue with Mixed Types of Interruptions: Application to the Modeling of Checkpointing and Recovery in a Transactional System

摘要

The average number of customers in an M/G/1 queue with mixed types of Poisson interruptions is derived. The relation to the Pollaczek-Kintchine formula is noted. The analysis is based on the definiton of the effective service time and the completion time associated with a customer's service. The results are applied to the modeling of checkpointing and recovery in a transactional system.
