Optimization of a Passive Infrared Radiator

摘要

The parameters and the optimum orientation of the Sun shield of an IR radiator mounted on a low orbit satellite were determined using a geometrical method. The radiator is pyramid shaped and should receive no flux from the Earth or the Sun on its base, either directly or by reflection from the walls. A computer program which gives a solution for 1 axis of rotation forming an angle of 62 deg with the yaw axis, and a solution for a radiator axis near the pitch axis, but using an asymmetric radiator geometry (height on Earth side greater than on Sun side) is presented.
