Automatic Traversing System for Laser Doppler Anemometer (LDA) Applications to Wind Tunnels and to Free Jets

A traversing system which allows the measuring point of a laser Doppler anemometer to be moved quickly and accurately following two coordinates is described. The system is characterized by a minimum of moving parts even though the anemometer uses the forward scattering configuration. Traversing of the measuring point can be achieved manually or by a computer. In computer controlled operation, traversing can be optimized following the flow configuration under study.
