摘要

The fracture mechanism of peeling of ARALL (a hybrid material obtained by adhesive bonding of thin aluminum sheets and unidirectional aramid prepreg layers) was examined. Peel strength can be widely influenced by varying the volume fraction of the fibers and the adhesive thickness. In an extreme case the peel strength is comparable with the peel strength of pure resin systems. Peel strength can be increased by the improving the wetting properties of the aramid fiber and/or by increasing adhesion at the interface. Adding extra resin films on places where extreme peel forces appear improves peel properties.
