On-Line Superposition of Geographical Data to TIROS-N Type Meteorological Satellite Images

A method by which geographical data are superposed in real time to the high resolution picture transmission imagery from the TIROS-N series satellites is described. The superposition of additional geographical data is important for an accurate position determination of image data. Computations necessary for the transformation, conversion, and sorting of the additional data are performed on-line (i.e., during a period of 5 min immediately before image production). The superposition is based on orbit predictions with a circular model, modified to decrease the geographical data position deviations in the image.
