Amplification and Propagation of Sound Waves in Early-Type Stars

The effects induced by radiative acceleration in spectral lines on various hot stellar models were investigated. It is shown how to crudely incorporate the line radiation pressure into a time dependent nonlinear hydrodynamic code, based upon the method of characteristics. The results support the hypothesis that sound waves are responsible for the time dependent and nonequilibrium phenomena observed in early-type stars.
