Acquisition of Gust Statistics from Aircraft Integrated Data Systems (AIDS) Recorded Data

The procedures applied to reduce B-747 acceleration data from greater than 100,000 flight hours to derived gust velocities are described. The results are presented and compared with other data sources. The validity of the assumptions made in the derivation are discussed.
