Modelisation des Regimes d'Ecoulements Instationnaires Rencontres en Turbomachine Axiale (Modeling the Unsteady Flow Found in Axial Turbomachinery)

A linear model which takes into consideration compressibility of either the steady or unsteady flow is developed. Attention is paid to flow stability in reduced overall flow condition. Outside blade-space, the three dimensional flow is replaced with two dimensional flow developed over axisymmetric surfaces. The experimental results obtained on mono- and multi-stage compressors agree reasonably with model predictions, with an accuracy of 5 percent at nominal flow, reduced to 10 percent at 80 percent flow.
