Transient Response of a Viscous Liquid Bridge of Finite Length and Anchored Edges

The dynamic response of an axially excited viscous liquid bridge with anchorededges due to sudden change of excitation amplitude and forcing frequency is investigated analytically. The transient behavior of the free liquid surface displacement was evaluated numerically for various excitation changes. It depends on the surface tension parameter, the aspect ratio and is presented as a function of the dimensionless time. The result is of importance for sweeping experiments to find the proper sweeping speed, in order to really measure steady state oscillations.
