An Atlas of Low-Dispersion IUE Spectra of late type galaxies

The work on the Atlas of Low-Dispersion Ultraviolet Spectra of Quasars has been fully completed, resulting in a publication of over 70 pages. This Atlas has been used as the main reference for HST observations of quasars, since it listed reference fluxes for a large set of quasars and blazars. Our Atlas also provided evidence for the variability in quasars and blazars; variability that is strong in the ultraviolet, while it remains marginal in the optical. One very interesting result of the study was that the blazars and the quasars differentiate themselves by their variable behavior. The blazars can be identified in the optical by their variability, while in the ultraviolet, the blazars and the quasars both show strong variability. The Atlas has been released digitally, and is available to astronomers via the NSSDC and also via anonymous ftp at STScI.
