摘要

The potential usefulness of the integral formulation method of stress analysis has been demonstrated in two recent reports by Liu and Martenson (GE TIS Report No. 69-C-366 and No. 69-C-367). These authors developed the fundamental equations and general procedures for solving plane elasticity problems with prescribed tractions. This report is devoted to the extension of this method to three dimensions with or without steady state thermal stresses.nIn this report, it is assumed that the elastic body is isotropic and homogeneous. However, the technique can be extended to solve problems which involve inhomogeneous media and anisotropic bodies. It can also be applied to problems in viscoelasticity and the propagation of elastic waves in solids.
