THE EFFICIENCY OF WHATMAN TYPE ACG/B FILTER PAPERS FOR METHYL IODIDE RETENTION IN AIR

Experiments are described in which charcoal impregnated glass fibre filter papers Type Ace/IB were exposed to methyl iodide vapour and the penetration deter¬mined for iodide loadings ranging from 2 x 10 -7 to 2x10 -1 μg/cm2 of filter area. Air was subsequently passed through the filters, and at intervals the amount of methyl iodide remaining on them was determined. Penetrations during loading varied from 3O56 to 80$6, but after 10 minutes elution all filters retained less than 5$ of the methyl iodide originally present.
