Cadmium Activity in its Alloys with a Small Amount of Gold from the EMF of Stirred H Cells

Stirred H-cell electromotive force measurements on solvent concen¬tration cells of the typenW - Cd, Au(liq soln)/Cd I2(l)/Cd(l) - Wnwere made with high precision using compositions from 0.001 to 0.021 mole fraction of gold at 673, 742, and 773°K. The results at each tem¬perature, except for narrow transition regions, may be described by two linear equations. All equations are of the form aCd = c1 – k1NAu which has previously been shown to hold for other systems. Solubility and anodic current efficiency measurements are reported.
