Electrochemical Refining of Manganese in Chloride Melts

Thermal analysis has been used to study the interaction of manganese chloride (II) with chlorides of sodium and potassium in melts. A phase diagram of the MnCl sub 2 -NaCl-KCl system has been constructed, and the range of compositions that can be used as electrolyte in the electrorefining of manganese and its alloys has been set. Experiments have been conducted in the electrorefining of manganese. The conditions for obtaining cathodic metal of varied fineness have been set forth.
