A theory is presented for the problem of flow through compressible porous media. It correctly predicts the large variation in the Kozeny-Carman constant that is necessary to explain the changes in bed permeability with applied compaction pressure. It also gives a method of constructing yield stress curves for the powder from the porosity variation with compaction pressure. Values of the coefficient of friction obtained from these curves are in good agreement with values obtained from friction experiments.
