A method is given to simulate the solution of the adjoint photon transport equations. The main goal of the method is the proper modification of the energy transfer distribution to avoid divergencies in the adjoint photon cross sections. In the Monte Carlo calculations the energy is selected from the new distribution and weight correcting factors are used so that the results are unbiased. This modification procedure is a special application of the technique generally called importance sampling. Two FORTRAN routines that can be used for the integration of the modified cross section function and for energy selection are also given in the Appendix. (Atomindex citation 08:341351)
