IEA Programme to Develop and Test Solar Heating and Cooling Systems. Task V. Use of Existing Meteorological Information for Solar Energy Application. Annual Progress Report

The objectives of this task are to determine the quantitative relationship between measurements of solar radiation and other relevant meteorological parameters, and to develop an internationally uniform system of presentation of solar radiation data, in order to facilitate calculations for utilizing solar energy. These objectives are to be accomplished by (1) compilation of sources of solar radiation data, (2) preparation of a handbook evaluating methods of estimating solar radiation, (3) formulation of recommendations for improving meteorological stations in view of solar user needs, (4) development of a uniform format for presentation of meteorological data, and (5) participation in task meetings.
