ALS II: The Saclay Proposal for a 2 GeV, CW Electron Facility.

Studies for the transformation of the ALS (600 MeV, 1% duty cycle) into a high energy, CW machine are currently done at Saclay. In order to use the greatest part of the existing facility, the solution of adding a stretcher ring to the linac (with new klystrons) has been chosen. A one turn injection in the ring is chosen with a beam pulse length of 1 mu s and a ring circumference of 300 m. It is planned in a first step to use the existing experimental areas for energies up to 1.3 GeV. (Atomindex citation 14:755721)
