摘要

In this study a suite of off-the-shelf wave, tide, and surf models are coupled to produce a physically consistent dynamic representation of the surf zone for Onslow Beach, North Carolina Mary of the models used in this study have undergone some degree of validation, however, the suite of models has not been evaluated. The Integrated Ocean Program (IOP) model suite consists of the deep-water wave model WAM, two shallow-water wave refraction models: (1) STWAVE and (2) REFDIF, the ADCIRC model which predicts water elevations and depth- averaged currents. and SURF96, an R&D version of the Navy Standard Surf Model. To evaluate the lop suite of models, a series of oceanographic instruments were deployed in shallow water at Onslow Beach to measure wave heights, wave periods, and tidal elevations. Wave and tide measurements were collected during the Joint Task Force Exercise (JIFEX 97-3) for the period 28 August - 5 September 1997. In addition. two video cameras were deployed to collect continuous video data from 2-5 September 1997. The video data is used to infer surf zone information such as longshore current, breaker angle, and average wave period.
