Toxoplasmosis

Definition Toxoplasmosis is infection by Toxoplasma gondii, a coccidian protozoan parasite of birds, cats, humans, and other mammals. In humans, infection is usually asymptomatic. Clinical symptoms arise in some congenitally infected infants and in adults whose immune systems have been compromised by, for example, corticosteroids, cytostatic agents, or AIDS.
