THE EFFECT OF CEMENT CONTENT ON THEnSTRENGTH AND ELASTIC PROPERTIES OF DRY LEAN CONCRETE

The report describes a laboratory investigation of the strength and elastic properties of dry lean concrete. The aggregate/cement ratio of the mixes examined was varied between 8 and 100 and, for the greater part of the work, the workability was controlled to a very low value suitable for field compaction by rolling in road and airfield bases.nStrengths at 28 days were measured in compression, flexure and indirect tension on specimens compacted to refusal by vibration under pressure, and well defined relations were established between the three measures of strength. However, it was found that the strengths were greatly reduced by partial compaction.
