ANATOMY OF THE HYPOTHALAMUS AND ITS CONNECTIONS

This report briefly summarizes hypothalamic anatomy in terms of boundaries, cellular groups, intra, efferent and afferent connections, and ontogenetic development. Wherever possible, discussion is directed or limited to aspects of hypo-thalamic anatomy that are of special significance to the nervous control of shivering. For this reason the connections between the septal area of the forebrain and the hypothalamus are emphasized.
