In this paper the author has suggested that systems analysis techniques be applied to education for long-range planning purposes. The use of such techniques was described as a means of assessing the value of alternative methods of meeting quantitative demands and the need for quality improvements in education, as well as a set of priorities for implementation during the next several decades. A discussion of a suggested long-range educational analysis and planning program was given and specific phases of study were outlined. The study program would collect and synthesize interdisciplinary research results concerning long-term needs and resources in American education during the 1965 1968 time period, and would develop economic projections, under alternative assumptions, regarding the rate and direction of growth in the Nation's economy.
