In order to allow the utilization of digital computer programs written for the LGP-30 computer by an organization which no longer had convenient access to this machine, a program was written for NAREC, the NRL general purpose computer, which causes NAREC to simulate the actions of an LGP-30. Although this program was written out of necessity, the simulation speed gain is sufficiently high to make the simulation of LGP-30 operations more economical than direct execution for many classes of problems. A more cogent argument for the utilization of simula¬tion is to free NRL's LGP-30's from production work and allow them to be used in close support of research.
