摘要

The application of shock tube techniques to the solution of selected problems in chemical kinetics is described. The range in temperatures and densities over which experiments can be performed has been greatly extended; heterogeneous side reactions can be eliminated; and one can separate, in time, sequences of reactions which under conventional conditions, appear to be concurrent. This separation is possibly because of the very rapid hemogenous heating of the sample by the shock wave - a gas dynamic rather than a conduction process. Limitation of shock tube techniques are also discussed. (Author)
