SOME CONSIDERATIONS IN THE DESIGN OF WATER-COOLED NOZZLE THROAT SECTIONS FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE, HIGH PRESSURE OPERATION

The calibrations of a lined N-4000 electric are heater necessitated having a nozzle (restrictor) capable of repeated operation at high pressures and temperatures. The theoretical and experimental bases used in the design of the water-cooled nozzle are presented. Included are the procedures to determine the nozzle liner material, liner thickness, water flow requirements, and optimum wall operating temperatures.
