The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of attenuating fluid pressure fluctuations in a duct by introducing phase-inverted pulses at the same frequencies.nA literature search was made to determine previous treatments and results. Background theory on acoustics was studied and theoretical predictions were than made from an analysis of applicable theory.nExperimental tests were conducted for comparison with the theoretically-predicted performance. The results were examined for possible sources of error.nConclusions and recommendations have been drawn from a comparison of the theoretical and experimental work.
