METHOD OF OBTAINING LUBRICANT FOR HOT WORKING OF METALS

A method is known for obtaining lubricant for hot working of metals by means of a mixture of emulsion, graphite, and glass. How¬ever, the lubricants have a high temperature of softening at which there is given off a great quantity of smoke, as a result of which the atmosphere is much contaminated.nFor the purpose of increasing the interval of softening and the heat resistance of the lubricant one uses glass. consisting of 13.8 to 14％ of silicon oxide, 10 to 10.12％ of boron oxide, 49 to 49.2 ％ of potassium oxide, 17.78 to 18％ of sodium oxide, and 9 to 9.1 of iron oxide.
