Group Theoretical Treatment of Pairing and Isospin Pairing Forces in the Nuclear Shell Model

Two different kinds of contributions are isolated within the two-body residual forces in the shell model, according to a recent idea by Camiz;one of them couples pairs of nucleons to J=0 angular mo¬mentum (pairing force), the other couples pairs of nucleon to T = 0 isospin (isopairing forces). The group theoretical analysis of pairing and isopairing operators is completed and we show the perfect comple¬mentarity between the symplectic groups generated by the two kinds of operators, using quasi-spin formalism following the outline of Kerman and Lipkin.
