A New Optical Retroreflector

A simple retroreflector consisting of two lenses and a plane mirror has been designed. The unit is characterized by low cost and simplicity of fabrication. Although not so compact as a conventional retroreflector, this new design can be made with large apertures and is quite rugged. By etching a reticle pattern on the mirror, the system will permit measurement of rotational speed of objects to which it is attached. (Author)
