Effective Modulus Plate Theories with Application to the Plate Strip

An effective modulus theory is obtained by a direct reduction from the velocity corrected Sun 'effective stiffness' theory by setting all microstructure terms to zero. Two additional theories are obtained by reducing the Mindlin plate theory for ortho-tropic materials to a transversely isotropic theory with Postma elastic constants and by separately considering the cases of velocity correction and shear correction of the resulting theory. Numerical results for and comparisons of three theories are presented. (Author)
