摘要

The feasibility of prestressing commercial boron/epoxy and graphite/epoxy prepreg material to higher strengths and lower property dispersions is demonstrated. Its practical application as an on-line process for improving quality levels is possible with minor modifications to current experimental practice. The mechanics of the bendstressing method affects a controlled alteration in the fiber defect content to the extent that composite improvements can be achieved approaching the inherent fiber quality with dispersions in properties reduced to the 1 to 2% range.
