摘要

A satellite instrument for the detection of very low-energy cosmic rays and geomagnetically trapped ions which employs a thin plastic scintillator foil and a silicon semi-conductor detector in a time-of-flight configuration is described in this paper. The motivation for using such a sensor will be discussed briefly and the configuration, electronic design and response of the instrument described in some detail.
