A Mechanically Operated Opening-Closing Macroplankton Net.

摘要

An opening-closing net, 2 m in diameter at the mouth and 7 m long, which can be handled by two people and towed with hydrographic wire, is described. The circular stainless steel frame is hinged on opposite sides so that it can be held shut by a pressure-powered mechanism and opened to fish at a selected depth. It can be towed at relatively high speeds. A flowmeter is mounted in the mouth so that it can operate only when the net is fishing. The net is simple in design, effective and inexpensive. (Author)
