Methods of Acquiring and Maintaining Aircraft Engines.

摘要

The main purpose of this study was to provide information that will facilitate decisions concerned with improving engine life and reducing the overall costs of engine procurement and maintenance. A secondary purpose was to analyze and document the methods used by the Department of Defense and selected commercial airlines for acquiring and maintaining engines. Conclusions and recommendations are made in the following areas of engine acquisition and maintenance: (1) Specification,design and demonstration of maintenance performance; (2) Development of maintenance performance; (3) Spare engine requirements; (4) Warranties; (5) Maintenance planning;and (6) Overhaul.
